What I’m Teaching…The Chakras
I am a planner. Honestly, it helps keep me sane and keeps anxiety at bay to have a plan. I seriously doubt I will ever be the yoga teacher who comes in without a plan. However, I am ok with modifying plans. Did stretching feel good and take a little bit longer? Ok, we can change up or shorten the flow. I’m a work in progress in so many areas of life. Let’s talk lesson planning…something I cannot ever seem to escape.
This summer, my Tuesday class started a dive into the chakras. Each week we’ve explored a chakra through poses, music, crystals, essential oils, and affirmations. By learning about the chakras, we can improve our physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, leading to an increased life span and overall satisfaction with life.
The chakras are the energy centers of the body. The term is a sanskrit word meaning wheel or disc. Imagine that you have these energetic wheels spinning inside your body, waiting for you to release their potential. Prana, or energy, travels through the chakras almost like a road through a town. Our goal is to make sure that there are no roadblocks or traffic jams to allow the prana to keep moving.
